Jeff Brown

born 1988 in New York City, grew up in Boston and currently resides in Berlin. He began to study flute at the age of 9 and composition at the age of 14. He was a member of the Boston Youth Symphony and conducted his Overture with the
Wind Ensemble in New England Conservatory’s Jordan Hall at the age of 18.
He received his Bachelor’s degree in composition at the Universität Mozarteum in Salzburg with Reinhard Febel and his Master’s at the Hochschule für Musik Basel with Georg Friedrich Haas. His works have been performed in the US and throughout Europe by ensembles such as the Stadler Streichquartett, österreiches Ensemble für neue Musik, Ensemble Phoenix, ensembleTHIS|ensembleTHAT. He has been featured at the IMPULS festival, Szeget Festival, SoundSCAPE, and the UnCaged Toy Piano Festival.
In 2013, he joined the Berlin-based artist collective PlanetenExport. Upcoming projects include a performance in the Young American Composers series with the Argento Chamber Ensemble in New York, and a staging of a scene from his opera Love and Hydrogen at the Darmstadter Ferienkurse with Ensemble Interface.
