Duo Dubois + Zeno Baldi

The Duo Dubois was born in 2011 from the shared passion for the contemporary music by the two members: Alberto Cavallaro (Saxophone) and Federico Tramontana (Percussion).

The aim of the Duo is to develop the repertoire for this formation, with particular attention to the interactions between the instruments, often imagining a hybrid result that characterizes their idea of “sound”. During their performance the duo mostly play music written for them. The Duo has appeared in Festival such as: Darmstadt Ferienkurse (Darmstadt), DME (Lisbona), Lund Biennale (Lund), SMOG (Bruxelles), De Bijloke (Ghent), Sound Spaces (Malmoe), Istituti Italiani di Cultura of Bruxelles and Melbourne, MACRO – Museo d’Arte Contemporanea of Roma, Spaziomusica (Cagliari), Festival Internazionale di Musica di Savona (Savona), Dialoghi sul Comporre (Reggio Emilia) ecc. The Duo has held lectures and workshops for the Conservatories of Venice, Fermo and Adria.

Zeno Baldi is an Italian composer and sound artist.

His work has been presented in numerous international Festivals – Mata (New York, US), London Ear Festival (UK), Unerhörte Musik (Berlin), ArteScienza (Rom), TransArt (Bolzano), Open Music (Graz), Loop (Brussels), (…) in venues from the Miller Theatre (New York) to Piccolo Teatro (Milan), from 104Centquatre (Paris) to Musiikkitalo (Helsinki).

As a performer, he’s developing a solo electroacoustic project (2017- ongoing), exploring different set ups for each performance, including piezo-electric microphones, analogue pedals and synthesizers, midi-controlled solenoids, tactile transducers and “tuned” feedbacks on membranes or cymbals. Recent projects also include semi-improvised works for/with with Duo Dubois (saxophone & percussions) and with Ljuba Bergamelli (voice) / Jacopo Cenni (electronics).

His scores are published by Ricordi.
