ENSEMBLE FOR NEW MUSIC TALLINN

Founded in 2012, Ensemble for New Music Tallinn (ENMT) is internationally the most active Estonian contemporary music ensemble, being an important platform for experiencing new music and expanding the possibilities for composers. The ensemble wants to bring the most remarkable part of new music to the listeners and offer contemporary creators an outcome for the first performance of their work. Since its creation (in 2012), the Ensemble for New Music Tallinn has remained faithful to its musical mission, enriching both local and international cultural life with a carefully selected program and a fresh approach.

The ensemble works closely with several Estonian music festivals and has collaborated with many festivals and associations across Europe: Mixtur festival in Barcelona, Warsaw autumn, ORF Musikprotokoll in Graz, CrossRoads in Salzburg, Ostrava Music Days, MusicOlomouc festival, Classical:NEXT, reMusik festival in St. Petersburg, Impuls festival, intersonanZen festival, Inner Sound New Arts festival in Bucharest, ISCM World Music Days, Estonian/Baltic Music Days, Berlin University of the Arts (UdK), Salzburg Mozarteum, Resonanta Association in Paris, Unerhörte Musik in Berlin, Fylkingen in Stockholm, Korvat Auki in Helsinki, FUGA Architecture Museum in Budapest, etc.

In addition to commissioning new works from local and foreign composers, the Ensemble for New Music Tallinn wishes to present remarkable works from the most important composers of contemporary music to be premiered in Estonia.

Since 2017, ENMT has been organizing a festival dedicated to alternative intonations, Sound Plasma, both in Tallinn and in one of the most important centers of new music, Berlin.

The artistic director of the ensemble is composer and conductor Arash Yazdani.
